Created as part of the project Practices of Recognition at the Mala Gallery of Mystetskyi Arsenal, Kyiv, where participants engaged in a dialogue with the exhibition Defloration, Lviv, 1990.
The psychology and physicality of transformation — where will and freedom are embodied in the butterfly breaking free from its cocoon. Through acts of will, citizens tear themselves from one historical period into another, again and again shedding one shell to confront the next.
The diptych echoes Sylvestrov’s glitter portraits, first exhibited in Defloration, 1990.
Створено в межах проєкту «Практики розпізнавання» у Малій галереї Мистецького арсеналу, Київ, де учасники мали діалог із виставкою «Дефлорація», Львів, 1990. Психологія та фізіологія трансформації — воля та свобода у вигляді метелику, що виривається з кокона. Актами волі громадяни знову й знову вириваються з одного історичного періоду в інший, скидаючи стару оболонку для того, щоб зіткнутися з наступною.
