About the multiplicity of lenses for a single territory — and one greatest force: forgetting.
Tachanka (officially named “The Legendary Tachanka”) is a monument in the Kakhovka region, installed to commemorate the tachanka—a horse-drawn machine-gun cart widely used in the Ukrainian steppes during the Soviet–Ukrainian War and the Civil War, particularly by the Red Army’s cavalry. It was built to mark the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution and is dedicated to the battles that took place in 1920 in the Kakhovka area. In the 1990s, people often went there to take wedding photos. I use the name “Tachanka” as a collective image of similar places—war memorials that have almost disappeared from memory.
The UFO appears in both the images and the title as I reflect on how, by forgetting the traces of war on the land, people begin to project mystical meanings onto it. This idea was inspired by drone footage of scorched earth, where the marks left by shelling resembled the landing traces of a UFO. One day, the war between russia and Ukraine in my homeland might be described in the same way—as signs left by a UFO.
I reinterpret the territory of my home through time—from looking at my parents’ wedding photos to the moment I discovered the historical meaning of Tachanka.
I try to bridge ways of seeing: before and after I understood the meaning of the word “colonization.”

«Тачанка» (офіційна назва — «Легендарна Тачанка») — пам’ятник у Каховському регіоні, встановлений на честь тачанки — запряженого кіньми кулеметного воза, який широко використовувався в українських степах під час радянсько-української війни та громадянської війни. Пам’ятник було зведено до 50-річчя Жовтневої революції й присвячено боям 1920 року в районі Каховки. У 1990-х мешканці ближніх міст часто їздили фотографуватись біля нього на весілля. Вперше я побачила цей монумент саме на весільних фото своїх батьків.
Я використовую назву «Тачанка» як збірний образ подібних місць — меморіалів, першопочаткове значення яких поступово зникає, як зникає й пам’ять про війну.
НЛО з’являється і в зображеннях, і в назві. Я розмірковую про те, як, забуваючи сліди війни на землі, люди починають проєктувати на неї нові, містичні смисли. Візуально ця ідея вперше виникла після перегляду зйомки згарищ із дрона — сліди від обстрілів нагадували відбитки приземлення НЛО. Одного дня війну між росією та Україною на моїй батьківщині можуть описувати так само — як загадкові сліди, що залишило НЛО.
Я розглядаю територію свого дому з різних точок зору — від весільних фотографій батьків до моменту, коли вперше дізналася про історичне значення Тачанки, і намагаюся поєднати ці бачення: до і після того, як усвідомила значення слова «колонізація».
